This cosy creation is bright and festive, with a retro twist—granny squares are stitched at a ninety-degree angle, forming charming diamond shapes. Each square is adorned with some of my favourite winter motifs: a candy cane, a Christmas pudding, a gingerbread house, a star cookie, and a mug of hot chocolate. The blanket combines classic granny squares, solid treble squares, and solid treble triangles, making it a joy to assemble for crafters of all levels.

Tips for Cosy Crafting

If you’re looking to add a touch of nostalgia and warmth to your home, try mixing traditional motifs with bold colours. Don’t be afraid to play with layout—turning your granny squares can create a completely new look. And if you’re new to applique, start with simple shapes before adding details. The process is just as comforting as the finished piece.
